Short Biography:
Born in 1963 in The Hague (Netherlands), Lili Berger grew up, went to school, worked and lived for many years in that same city. At the age of 16 she went to boarding-school for one year in Switzerland to learn French and other foreign languages. Once turned 18, Lili decided to move to Paris. After successfully passing her exams at the Sorbonne University she decided to move back to Holland and get a job there. Over the years, in order to discover arts and cultures overseas, Lili switched jobs several times. Travelling not only contributed to finding her place in life, it also nourished Lili´s urge to create.

"As a child I loved to create clothes and furniture for my dolls, as a teenager I preferred to dream away by the passing clouds in the sky. Form and freedom have always been very important and my passion for travelling has always contributed to applying new ideas."

Currently Lili lives in a small village not far from The Hague.

Artistic Development:
Inspired by a trip to Asia in 1993, Lili started taking pottery classes and started working on ceramic sculptures not long afterwards. She continued taking ceramic lessons up to 1998 at Peter Waltman’s ceramics studio in The Hague. From 1995 to 1997 Lili took a two years' course "Creative Handicrafts" at SKL Leiden followed by Saturday class at the Koninklijke Academie Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague from 1999-2000. From 2005 till 2008 Lili created sculptures at the WBK Vrije Academie Den Haag – supported by Hans van Lunteren, Moki Last and Zuang Hong Yi. Other education includes a 2004 Masterclass Revealing Glazes by Ian Curry, as well as masterclasses by Karel Goudsblom, Piet Dirckx and David Bade.
