Musings, memories, and thoughts—ranging from the distant past to moments as recent as yesterday or just a moment ago—take on a new form in this work, thereby entering the present. Through this piece, the past is woven together with the present, creating a new narrative.
From light to dark or dark to light, or perhaps from up close to the horizon and back.

For the Katwijk Museum Textile Competition in 2024 - “Mourning Jewelry and Remembrance” this piece was created in memory of my mother, who passed away 40 years earlier.
The title “A song of love” refers to the theme song of the movie “Lili”, after which I was named. I made the porcelain roses myself; they represent love and mourning, while the black jet stones (or garnets) were traditionally worn during periods of mourning. The recessed, embroidered portrait was created from a photograph taken with my mother when I was one year old.
Memories fade, but they are also cherished!
