Short Biography

Currently, Lili Berger works in her studio in Scheveningen (The Hague) and lives in a smaller town not far from the city. As a multidisciplinary visual artist, she creates installations, sculptures, and ceramics, increasingly incorporating textiles into her latest work. Her art has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs throughout Europe and is included in private collections worldwide. Alongside her creative practice, Berger is actively involved in the arts community; she was the coordinator for the Artist Run Gallery NW117 and is one of the initiators of the Cultural Incubator See Lab in The Hague. After years of supporting See Lab's board and coordinating its Project Space Programme, her current focus is with the Garden Committee. In this role, she contributed to the transformation of the former concrete schoolyard into a thriving green oasis.

Born in 1963 in The Hague (Netherlands), Lili Berger grew up, went to school, and lived and worked for many years in that same city. At the age of 16, she attended boarding school in Switzerland for a year to learn French and other foreign languages. After turning 18, Lili decided to move to Paris. Upon successfully passing her exams at the Sorbonne University, she chose to return to the Netherlands to find a job. Over the years, driven by a desire to discover arts and cultures overseas, she switched jobs several times. Travelling not only helped her find her place in life, but it also nourished her deep urge to create.

"As a child, I loved creating clothes and furniture for my dolls, and as a teenager, I preferred to dream away while watching the passing clouds in the sky. Form and freedom have always been essential to me, and my passion for travel has continuously inspired new ideas."
