Terra-Viva is een kleine kunstenaarsvereniging waarvan de leden regelmatig samenkomen om over het vak te praten en om samen aan exposities te werken. Voor de expositie Cadans hebben de kunstenaars van Terra-Viva zich niet georienteerd op de ruimte, in dit geval de molen, maar op het geluid daarvan. De muziek van Igor Stravinski, At the Mill (uit The Fairy’s Kiss) en Frédéric Rzewski’s Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues hebben daartoe als inspiratie gediend.

Onvoltooide tijd is tijd die je beleefd hebt, terwijl het nog niet klaar is. 

Het is geen testament, maar een getuigenis van een punt ergens tussen in. Je kijkt terug, leert hiervan en gaat hiermee verder.
In dit tijdsgewricht waarin veel gebeurt, is een moment van bezinning nuttig. Corona lijkt een ingreep van bovenaf om eens goed na te denken over waar we mee bezig zijn. Terra-viva gaat niet over de wereld, zij gaat over het maken van kunst en de ontwikkeling van het denken over kunst en over hoe wij ons daartoe verhouden.
De kunstenaars van terra-viva kregen de opdracht om terug te gaan naar hun kindertijd en te reflecteren over hun ontwikkeling als kunstenaar sinds die tijd. Vaak was een jeugdfoto of een ervaring, die diepe indruk maakte, een ankerpunt bij deze reflectie. Deze opdracht hebben de 11 kunstenaars in hun eigen technieken uitgewerkt. Zoals gewoonlijk bij terra-viva is tijdens het scheppingsproces veel onderling gesproken over het
thema en is werk geëvalueerd. De werken refereren aan ervaringen van de kunstenaars die ze hun hele leven hebben meegenomen, hebben uitgediept en nu eindelijk hebben toevertrouwd aan papier, doek of hout.

Four artists from The Hague have come together to show their work in the exhibition PRIMAQUATRE. Paintings, assembly, ceramics, analogue photography and bronze converge into a serene and powerful ensemble.

Previously, they took part in the exhibition Pop-Up Galerie Prinsengracht 464 in Amsterdam. The four artist are presently showing their work together for the first time since 2015. This time the work of Annabelle Schatteman, Eline Diercks, Lili Berger en Ria Diercks Kroon is shown in the gallery Arti-Shock in Rijswijk.

The opening of the exhibtion will take place Sunday 17 November at 16:00. Come and join the artists for a drink and be the first to see the exhibition.

OPEN ATELIERS DUINSTRAAT 55 / DEN HAAG 26 - 27 OKTOBER / 11.00-17.00u  

On the 26th and 27th of October, all 22 studios of Scheveningen’s cultural incubator See Lab will be open to the public. Artists, inventors, musicians, as well as other creative entrepreneurs will be present to show you around and talk about their work.

The weekend is a unique occasion to get to know the artists who use metal, paint, foam, musical scores, and other media to shape their ideas. Meet artists who teach lessons from their studios throughout the year, and visit the seven attic studios which host graduates fresh from art school.

The 19​th​ century building at Duinstraat 55 is a former school building though with a little imagination it could easily have been an old monastery, or even the seaside palace of the Oranjes.

In the former chapel/gym, now See Lab’s very own exhibition space, Annabelle Schatteman will show her latest work ​The Desired State ​ . The installation is the first stopover on her imaginary journey which began with her previous work ​heading for the purple planet

Opnieuw bekeken Kunstenaarsvereniging Terra-viva 

Terra-viva is een kunstenaarsvereniging waarvan de leden elkaar inspireren via verschillende disciplines. De deelnemende kunstenaars zijn: Lili Berger, Ria Diercks Kroon, Irma den Hertog, Birke Hesse, Stéphanie Knage, Aad Ledeboer, Vivienne Lopes de Leão Laguna, Marian Meerbeek, Erik Rumpff, Thea Schenk en Frits Veenland. 

Zij dagen elkaar uit om vanuit andere invalshoeken te kijken en te werken. Daarbij willen ze zichzelf en het publiek verbazen met eigenzinnige en spraakmakende projecten. 

Voor de tentoonstelling Opnieuw bekeken geven de kunstenaars van Terra-Viva met hun eigen hedendaagse werk een reactie op de kunstwerken uit de vaste collectie van Museum Swaensteyn.
Zo is er in de Prinses Marianne kamer een hemelbed opgebouwd, zijn er kunstzinnige aureolen rondom de beelden van Albert Termote gevormd en is er een visuele presentatie waarbij het schilderij Liggende jongen in de duinen van Anton Mauve centraal staat.

De tentoonstelling schept nieuwe inzichten, laat een bijzondere wisselwerking zien en geeft een uitdagende kijk op de vaste collectie van het museum.

Gras wringt zich uit de zwarte grond, knoppen spatten uit de schors.

De natuur daagt ons uit tot een speels duel.

Kunstenaars van terra-viva gaan in de paradijselijke tuin en binnenruimten van Galerie Kolff een visueel schaakspel aan met het weiland, de boomgaard, het water in de sloot, de lucht.

Welcome to the opening of a group exhibition Get “Things” Off Our Chests on the 3rd of May from 18:00 at the See Lab’s project space.

To get (something) off one's chest is an act of sharing, confessing or relieving one's mind. It is an opportunity to talk about something worrying, to let go of neglect. It is an invitation to discuss something private, to pay attention to a character or an unknown nature.

As a response to creative dialogue about art practices, the framework of the exhibition takes the studio as a subject for exploring the key roles and methods of working, and positions artist’s body as an important element of its operations and creative labor. This group show introduces studio space as a site not only for producing, making and showing an artwork, but examines what is personally significant to a maker, an art worker, a creator, a female artist.

On November 17 and 18, See Lab organizes an Open Atelier weekend for the third consecutive year. At the beginning of 2018 the development and realization of 7 attic studios in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague & Stroom was completed and 10 recently graduated artists moved in. Together we are working on the further development of See Lab as a cultural incubator. Alongside this, the first programming for our project space ‘The Story Within and Beyond’ was started.

Take a chance during one of these days to visit the studios of the art and culture makers and meet them. Maybe you will go home with an original artwork!

For the Open Studios at See Lab, we will be making a pop-up exhibition that departs from a convergence in the practices of Ai Hashimoto, Masaaki Oyamada and Sissel Marie Tonn, that of the symbol, which transfers elements of a imaginary narrative into the physical world.

An image that pops up in own narratives, a vision of an archangel, an ongoing imaginary conversation with some dead architects whose lifelong project revolved around how not to die... What symbols and icons do we zoom in on, and what do they transfer, through their materiality and presence, into the world of the viewer?

Kunstenaarsvereniging Terra-Viva exposeert in galerie Arti-Shock met de tentoonstelling ‘kLEIN’.

Als je in de relativiteit van het begrip ‘klein’ duikt, dan kan je in Escher-achtige paradoxen en Oldenburgse omkeringen terecht komen. Hoeveel kleine dingen hebben al een kantelpunt van grote gebeurtenissen veroorzaakt?
